Do All Good People Go To Heaven?

Do All Good People Go To Heaven?

If your answer is “yes”, then my next question would be, “how good is good enough?”

  • Is going to church on Sunday (or Saturday, or whatever day) good enough?
  • Is joining a religion good enough?
  • Is giving to the poor good enough?
  • Is obeying the 10 commandments good enough?
  • Does making sure you have more good deeds than bad deeds good enough?

Here’s the reality — you can never be good enough for heaven. Even how many a good deed you perform, there will always be sinful deeds — people offended, broken promises, lustful thoughts, evil desires. Nobody’s perfect, you’ll say. Exactly. And therefore, nobody deserves to be in a perfect place like heaven where the perfect and holy God reigns.

Jesus, though, promises that there will be bad people in heaven. Bad people whose sins were forgiven. How? Through His death on the cross, our sins have been dealt with. And he promises eternal life for those who believes that he is the only way to the Father — not your good works, not your religion, not your obedience. Only Jesus.

So, do all good people go to heaven? No. There will be “good” people today who will still not make it to heaven. Good people who thinks they are good enough, that they can do it on their own, that they don’t need anybody’s help. But, there are bad people who will make it to heaven — those who have accepted Jesus’ promise of eternal life.

Not all good people will make it to heaven. All forgiven people will go to heaven.

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” -Jesus (John 11:25,26)
